This month’s featured movie starts
with a near-axial cross section just inferior to the gastroesophageal
junction, at the level of the portal confluence with the splenic
and superior mesenteric veins. The initial image shows the
portal vein, splenic vein and the right gastric vein at this
important landmark.
The movie moves proximally and then distally
through the portal confluence. As the images move distally,
the celiac and superior mesenteric arteries can be seen arising
from the aorta.
